Key factors in finding quality dental care
One of the downsides to moving to a new area is finding new medical and dental providers. Choosing a dentist requires taking time to consider all the options and evaluating them carefully. We’ve prepared a checklist to help you get started.
Step One: Check Credentials
This one almost goes without saying, but a Florida teen did recently scam would-be patients out of thousands of dollars by successfully passing himself off as a medical doctor. Upon entering into a working relationship with any health care professional, you must check for evidence of credentials from the appropriate agencies.
Step Two: Evaluate Training
Are the dentist, hygienists, technicians and staff properly knowledgeable in their fields, and do they show evidence of ongoing training? Do they attend conferences, study journals and display an understanding of recent developments in the field of dentistry?
Step Three: Gauge Personality
Someone can be perfectly qualified on paper and still not be a good fit for you. During your initial consultation, gauge your prospective dentist’s personality to determine whether or not you can see yourself committing your oral health to his or her care long-term.
Step Four: Assess the Facilities
A clean, well-tended facility can tell you quite a bit about the staff and their attitude toward their job as a whole. If they cannot be bothered to attend to such details as routine maintenance, cleaning and dusting, then how can they be trusted to attend to details when it comes to your oral health?
Here at Bieneman Dentistry, we look forward to getting to know you, answering your questions and welcoming you to the family. For more information on a complimentary consultation, please feel free to contact us at our south Denver dental office.
