Straighten your teeth at any age
Some are fortunate to be born with perfectly straight teeth. For those who weren’t, but who want to straighten their teeth or to adjust them for a more comfortable bite, know that braces are not the only option. There is a newer, more modern alternative called Invisalign that is not only effective and affordable but available to anyone at any age to straighten their teeth.
So why consider Invisalign for adults?
The Invisalign device is simply a clear aligner that is worn over the teeth. It’s meant to be invisible and, unlike braces, does not involve metal brackets, wires or rubber bands. Instead, Invisalign is made of smooth and comfortable BPA-free plastic.
Moreover, the process of making an aligner tray just for your mouth is simple. We use X-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth to customize a digital 3-D image. This imaging allows us to plan the movement of your teeth and determine how long you’ll need to wear the aligner. After that, we’ll create a series of aligner trays to gently straighten your teeth. You’ll visit us periodically to receive each new set of trays.
A common reason for choosing Invisalign over braces is the many advantages it provides, especially for adults who may feel that braces are best suited for children. Here are some reasons why you, as an adult, may want to review if you are considering Invisalign:
- Unlike braces, Invisalign is invisible and removable. There is nothing glued to your teeth, and there are no wires or rubber bands holding the metal brackets together. You can remove the aligner whenever you want, which makes flossing and eating far easier than with braces.
- It’s easier to maintain an aligner tray than braces. Since food often becomes stuck in braces, it is necessary to frequently brush the brackets and wires and sometimes additional resources are needed, such as a water pick. Invisalign, however, can be removed while eating so lodged food in your aligner tray is of no concern. Not only that, but cleaning your aligner tray is as simple as brushing and rinsing it in lukewarm water.
- There is less discomfort with an aligner tray. Braces are made of metal, which can irritate gums and cheeks. Invisalign is made of smooth plastic, so there’s no need for dental wax to hold pesky wires in place until you can schedule a visit.
- If you play rough contact sports, Invisalign is a convenient option. It would be very painful to be hit in the mouth with braces. With the plastic tray, there’s no need to worry about bloody gums because the it’s so smooth your gums will slide right over it.
